Differences in Lipid Metabolism, Polar Metabolites, and Phenolics in Persea americana under Two Storage Conditions

چکیده

Harvested avocado fruits can be potentially exposed both to pre- and post-harvest factors that may influence the susceptibility of fruit quality loss. Regular air (RA) storage consists approximately 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, 0.3% carbon dioxide, smaller amounts some other gasses. A controlled atmosphere (CA) is a changed used delay respiration reduce fungal physiological deterioration, it an appropriate practical technology for prolonging shelf life maintaining on large scale. An experiment was conducted by collecting from two different orchards (Bartolillo Quilhuica) during harvest seasons based dry matter content subsequent years. The current study designed investigate changes in polar metabolites, phenolic compounds, fatty acids skin Hass avocados stored under distinct conditions. Bartolillo orchard were mostly correlated linoleic oleic acid as important variables. For Quilhuica, with palmitoleic, palmitic, acids. Phenolic increased at beginning decreased end one contrarily others, indicating result dependent condition. Serine, glutaric acid, xylitol D-mannitol metabolites most Quilhuica while ß-sitosterol gluconic related orchard. differences acids, phenolics

Polyphenoloxidase and peroxidase in avocado pulp ( Persea americana Mill . )

The sensorial qualities, the nutritional value, and the large amount of vitamins of the avocado justify the expansion of the fruit consumption. The nutritional value of avocado is due to its high lipidic (8.4%) and proteic (1.2%) contents, which may reach 30% of its pulp. Due to its chemical composition it also becomes appropriate for industrial purposes (CANTO; SANTOS; TRAVAGLIN, 1980; TANGO; ...

In Vitro Propagation of Avocado (Persea americana Mill.) Abstract

A method with high success frequency for propagation of avocado is described. Embryonic axes of mature avocado seeds from six Floridian cultivars were excised and cultured in Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium containing growth regulators. Two types of cytokinins were used: benzyladenine (BA) and thidiazuron (TDZ). Explants were incubated in the dark for 7-10 days to reduce browning, then transfer...

Hypoglycemic and hypocholesterolemic potential of Persea americana leaf extracts.

The effect of aqueous and methanolic leaf extracts of Persea americana on plasma glucose, total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-CHOL), and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-CHOL) in rats was investigated. Albino rats were fed a diet containing 20% groundnut oil, 0.5% cholesterol, and 0.25% cholic acid to induce hypercholesterolemia. They were then treated daily wit...

Antiprotozoal and antimycobacterial activities of Persea americana seeds

BACKGROUND Persea americana seeds are widely used in traditional Mexican medicine to treat rheumatism, asthma, infectious processes as well as diarrhea and dysentery caused by intestinal parasites. METHODS The chloroformic and ethanolic extracts of P. americana seeds were prepared by maceration and their amoebicidal, giardicidal and trichomonicidal activity was evaluated. These extracts were ...

Predation in two species of leech under laboratory conditions

Two 60 day experiments on predation behavior of leeches were conducted concurrently. In the first, medicinal leeches, Hirudo orientalis (Utevsky and Trontelj, 2005) were fed to satiation on bovine blood and subsequently transferred into two large opaque plastic containers of equal size but with differing temperatures, 6-7?C and 23-24?C, containing starved Erpobdella octoculata (L.). At the high...
